Cast Busway / Waterproof BuswayManufacturer: Jiangsu Jiuwei Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. |
Cast busway, also called waterproof busway, is the highest protection-grade IP68 busway and is generally used outdoors, underground, or underwater. Cast busway uses mineral casting, which is less efficient at dissipating heat; on-site installation also requires on-site casting. Compared with compact busway, cast busway is more expensive.
Cast busway, also called waterproof busway, is the highest protection-grade IP68 busway and is generally used outdoors, underground, or underwater. Cast busway uses mineral casting, which dissipates heat less efficiently; on-site installation also requires on-site casting. Cast busway costs more than Compact Busway. Because of its on-site casting process, changes and maintenance are also more involved than for Compact Busway.
Busway protection ratings range from IP40 up to IP68, with IP40, IP54, IP65, and IP68 being the most common. The higher the protection rating, the lower the current-carrying efficiency, because the protection rating affects the busway's heat dissipation. As a result, cast busway needs a larger conductor than a busway of the same rated current to ensure it meets its rated current-carrying capacity.
When cast busway is installed, the connectors must be cast on site, making the cost higher than Compact Busway.
To maximize conductor current-carrying efficiency while also achieving rain protection, some users outdoors use a combination of Compact Busway plus a rain cover; when the rain cover has ventilation holes, it can provide rain protection while maintaining the busway's heat dissipation and current-carrying capacity.
